Sculpture Conservation

I have had the privilege of working on a diverse array of public and private outdoor sculptures. These sculptures were crafted from materials including zinc, bronze, corten steel, fiberglass, and more. My responsibilities involve routine maintenance and in-painting for renowned artists such as Henry Moore, Yayoi Kusama, Jeff Koons, Auguste Rodin, Fernando Botero, and others. Additionally, I participated in the conservation efforts for New York City municipality sculptures, including monuments.

I have comprehensive training in waxing techniques, including hot waxing using a torch. Waxing contributes to reconditioning dry patinas, ensuring their uniformity and homogeneity.

'Private Passage' by Malcolm Cochran is a prominent public sculpture situated in Hudson River Park, NYC.  Above is a before (left) and after (right) example of in-painting on the sculptures exterior to reduce appearance of abrasions.

The interior of the vessel requires routine vacuuming and polishing of the stainless steel.
